Nancy Gentes, Executive Director of Madonna Place,Inc in Norwich, will discuss its mission and programs.
Madonna Place opened in 1987 when a group of concerned citizens got together to create a center for disadvantaged women and children, a nonjudgmental place where women could meet other mothers and learn from the nurse coordinator and each other.
Madonna Place partners with many local organizations including the Norwich Public Schools, Backus Hospital, United Community and Family Services, the University of Connecticut, Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and local churches.  Their mission is to provide services which strengthen families, promote health, and prevent child abuse and neglect.  Madonna Place is a family support agency serving all of New London County and beyond and a leader in the field of parent education, home visiting, child abuse prevention services and service to fathers.
